Flow Survey for Major UK Airport Client: Major UK AirportProject Duration: 12-Month Flow SurveyProducts Used: 38 x MSFM MCERTS Flow Meters, 9 x LIDoTT Alarms, 2 x Raingauges Overview Managing surface water at large, complex sites like airports requires precision and accuracy. A major UK airport recognised this need and turned to Detectronic for support in conducting a comprehensive 12-month flow survey. The goal was clear: to validate and refine their existing surface water models. By deploying advanced flow monitoring equipment, we provided the airport with precise and reliable data essential for achieving their objectives. Project Scope To ensure the success of this flow survey, Detectronic provided a tailored solution that included: 38 x MSFM MCERTS Flow Meters: Selected for their unmatched accuracy and compliance with stringent MCERTS standards, these flow meters played a critical role in collecting precise data. This data not only enhances the reliability of their models but also supports potential regulatory reporting, giving the airport added confidence. 9 x LIDoTT Alarms: Installed in areas unsuitable for traditional flow meters, such as wet wells, these alarms provided real-time alerts on unexpected flow level changes. This feature allowed for immediate action, minimising potential risks. 2 Raingauges: To supplement the flow data, we installed raingauges that captured rainfall information. This additional data allowed for a more robust correlation with flow data, further strengthening the accuracy of the surface water models. Data Management and Delivery Detectronic ensured that all collected data was efficiently transmitted directly to the airport’s appointed modelling contractors. This real-time data transfer enabled continuous monitoring and timely analysis, which is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and effectiveness of their water management strategies throughout the survey period. Ongoing Success The project is still in progress, and the accurate flow data provided by our MSFM MCERTS flow meters, along with the supplementary data from LIDoTT alarms and raingauges, is empowering the airport’s modelling contractors to verify and refine their surface water models. This ongoing effort plays a vital role in ensuring the airport’s water management practices remain effective and compliant with regulatory standards.
