Running Toilets Raise Money For WaterAid

Chris Walker and Rob Hall have raised £525 for Water Aid by running the Yorkshire Half Marathon 2016 in Sheffield dressed as toilets!

Chris and Rob donned their eye-catching outfits early on the morning of Sunday 10th April and completed the hilly and challenging 13-mile course in 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Rob Hall commented “We had great support all the way round the course – I don’t think some of the spectators could believe their eyes when they saw two running toilets coming towards them. We had a fantastic race and it was all for a great cause.”

Explains Chris: “Shortly after the run, a reporter from BBC Radio Sheffield asked us to do a live interview which was great fun and really helped to raise awareness of Water Aid and their activities.”

Water Aid’s aim is for: ‘Everyone, Everywhere’ to have access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene by 2030. This is linked to several of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals including improving water and sanitation, removing poverty and empowering women who are particularly affected by poor sanitation.

Money raised by Chris and Rob will certainly support this vital work and will contribute to ensuring Water Aid can support the people who need it most.

Looking at their post-race photo though, I thought they’d look a little more ‘flushed’ than they did!”
