Water Industry Awards Win Date: 25/06/25 | In: Auszeichnungen & Preise We’re proud to announce that Detectronic, in partnership with Severn Trent Water, has been awarded Pollution Mitigation Initiative of the Year at the 2025 Water Industry Awards! This prestigious recognition celebrates the success of our WINEP Overflow Programme—a large-scale initiative designed to reduce pollution from Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) through real-time monitoring and data-led decision-making. A Smarter Approach to Pollution Mitigation As part of the programme, we deployed over 450 MSFM flow monitors und 100 rain gauges across 130 catchments in the Severn Trent region. These devices provide continuous, high-quality hydraulic data that feeds directly into Severn Trent’s modelling systems, enabling smarter, faster responses to potential pollution events. By shifting from reactive to proactive monitoring, the programme is helping to: Reduce CSO spill frequency and volume Improve environmental outcomes for rivers and ecosystems Support regulatory compliance under WINEP and the Environment Act 2021 Prioritise infrastructure investment where it’s needed most Collaboration at Its Best The award was collected by Rob Button, our Service Delivery Director, who led the delivery of this complex and ambitious project. Rob and his team worked closely with Severn Trent Water to plan, deploy, and manage the monitoring network, ensuring every catchment survey was tailored to local needs and delivered with precision. “This award is a testament to the hard work, innovation, and collaboration that went into making the WINEP Overflow Programme a success,” said Rob. “We’re proud to be helping set a new standard for pollution mitigation in the water industry.” Looking Ahead The success of this programme demonstrates the power of real-time data and predictive analytics in tackling one of the sector’s biggest challenges.
