When should I use a water flow meter?

Whenever you need to measure the volumetric or mass flow of liquid, sewage or industrial wastewater, a water flow meter is what you should use.

For example, if you manage a sewage network or a waste water treatment plant, measuring the flow of wastewater inside a pipe or channels is key to understanding your wastewater network. Addressing any issues, such as blockages, before they arise helps to improve performance. Similarly, monitoring flows into a waste water treatment plant helps to facilitate successful and sustainable operations.

Water flow meters can also be used in open channels, such as a river or stream, to measure flow upstream of a waste water treatment plant and ascertain the effect of run-off and rain fall on the river catchment.

Many companies that manufacture products using industrial processes will use a water flow meter too. A pharmaceutical firm, for example, may use a water flow meter to validate an installed metering system.

Likewise, a food & drink processor will often use a liquid flow meter to verify that any pumping equipment used in the process is working correctly. Water flow meters, in a commercial and industrial environment, are also ideal for providing flow verification and enabling operations personnel to understand and predict the volumetric flow through a specific process line.
