Colne-based water monitoring specialists, Detectronic, are proud to announce their role in the Government’s new Kickstart scheme with a view to encouraging young people to consider the UK water industry via work placements with the company.

Launched in September 2020, the Kickstart Scheme is a Government funded initiative to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year-olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long-term unemployment.

Commenting on the scheme, Diane Dumon, operations manager for Detectronic, said: “A career in the water industry is hugely rewarding; we speak from experience! So, we’re proud to be part of Kickstart and play a part in inspiring and supporting young people to consider this particular sector via work placements with the team here at Detectronic.”

Continues Diane: “We’d like to invite anyone aged between 16 and 24 and who is currently unemployed and interested in learning more about the industry, to apply to take part. Successful applicants will gain direct work experience and training thanks to a six-month placement with us.”

A number of different roles are available for individuals to consider including working with our field service teams at clients’ sites across the country, as well as the chance to experience the day-to-day operations of our workshop or the fast-paced administration side of the business.

Concludes Diane: “Each placement will provide the opportunity to learn all about our industry and the associated skills required to succeed in a global firm. It could lead to a full-time position and even a long-term career in the thriving UK water industry.”

For more details about the placements and to register your interest, please discuss with your work coach at your local job centre who will give you details on how to get started with your application.
