Charitable appointment for Dave Walker Date: 13/06/17 | In: Other News Tags: flood prevention, Flooding, SuDS We’re delighted to announce that our commercial director, Dave Walker, has been appointed to the board of trustees at the Lea Brook Valley Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). The Lea Brook Valley project applied for, and gained, charitable status due to its continued success in developing biodiversity in and around the area. Detectronic has played a key role in the project’s success, in particular bringing together a number of different partners, including Yorkshire Water, and people in the local area to contribute and learn more about the importance of the balancing ponds and the SuDS. Explains Dave: “One of the key areas I’ll be focusing on as a trustee is the adoption of the Lea Brook Valley SuDS by the charity and ensuring it is self-supported in the long-term. “We have a number of Detectronic monitors and a rain gauge already employed in the area and the data we gather from them is key to the project’s continued success, they are an integral part of this community programme. “The entire area plays a vital role in the prevention of future flooding in Dronfield so we will also continue to support the volunteers who give up their time to take local people, including school groups, on tours of the valley and educate them on the many environmental benefits of the project as well as providing a fantastic habitat for wildlife.” Concludes Dave: “I’d urge anyone with an interest in SuDS and flood prevention in local communities to visit the charitable project when they are next in Derbyshire and find out more!”
