DETECTRONIC AWARDED A PLACE ON SWS FRAMEWORK

Wastewater monitoring specialists, Detectronic, have been awarded a place on a framework to supply sewer level monitoring equipment to UK water utility Southern Water Services (SWS).

The four-year framework will support SWS’s aim to install up to 30,000 devices into their sewer network with the objective of significantly and rapidly improving the visibility of the gravity wastewater network. As such, the organisation will use the sewer monitors and the analytics and data they gather to prevent blockages and prevent pollutions and flooding.

Commenting on the inclusion on the framework, Detectronic managing director, Neil Butler, said: “The installation of thousands of monitors in Kent, East and West Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight will ultimately enable SWS to effectively predict what may happen in the wastewater network, a network that covers 10,530km².

“SWS have chosen to use LIDoTT®, our highly affordable multi-sensor monitor that incorporates both ultrasonic and pressure level technologies, within the framework.”

Continues Neil: “Thanks to the fact that it has two different types of sensor, each LIDoTT® that is installed will provide data with millimetric accuracy. There is no dead-band and since the pressure sensor is calibrated by the ultrasonic, the result is a much more useful device that provides reliable and accurate level sensing in any sewer scenario.

“Several other UK and global water companies are already deploying LIDoTT® to great effect and reaping the benefits it can bring including achieving real time network visibility and forecasting and achieving zero spills and pollutions. We’re looking forward to supporting SWS to realise just the same.”

Ends.
